This isn’t a converter-specific issue, so I won’t speculate on the stance of Liberty, Vantare, or any other converters using similar systems. From my years of teaching seminars in the plumbing industry, I’ve learned that our coaches come with significant compromises, especially in their plumbing systems, which don’t fully comply with building codes but still function. My concern is that all owners are aware of the risks involved.
We’ve personally never used water from our faucets for drinking since 1990, and this situation only reinforces that decision.
Gary’s response to Joe was spot on. I’ll be adding some valving to our coach to reduce the risk and will share the details later. I also know that some converters have installed spring-type check valves, which do help, particularly for those using Headhunter pumps.
Frankly, I’m disappointed that this issue has never been openly discussed, and I suspect the installation of these spring-type check valves wasn’t done to prevent cross-contamination but to ensure the pumping system worked as intended.
