If you have an XL or XLV and the left dash blower has started making noise, I’ve found an excellent solution that avoids disassembling half the cockpit.
Instead of going through days of disassembly, you can remove the blower from the front. Simply drill out and remove the rivets on the center stainless panel below the windshield. By taking out the rivets along the sides and bottom of the panel, you can roll it up and access the motor. This method allows you to replace the blower in about four hours instead of spending days removing the step slide and numerous other components inside.
