ABS Light

ABS light comes on and DIC displays “check brakes at next stop”

There appears to be NO problems with the brakes although the 3 clicks heard when first turning the key on are reduced to 2 clicks sometimes.
ABS light and notification on DIC will clear itself and reappear randomly.
Any ideas what’s going on?

Had same issue for 3 years. Been checked by service facility and nothing found. Brakes work fine, drive it.

Most likely a tone ring transducer is slightly too far from tone ring or is loose. Check these and reset according to the service manual.

My Foretravel had that and the wheel brake were out of spec

Hey Chuck, ABS light has nothing to do with worn brakes. The ABS system uses sensors to monitor the wheels as they are turning. Meaning your ECM is missing an input and thinks the wheels are not spinning together equally. For my bus, my Prolink shows me the ABS inputs so it is easy to diagnose.

When I first turn the key, I usually hear a series of three Click/Click sounds (Click/Click – Click/Click – Click/Click). Lately, it’s only giving me two sets of clicks. It seems like one of the ABS valves isn’t functioning correctly. How can I determine which valve is causing the issue?
