So recently we had to replace BOTH Alternators, one while on the road and the other when we got home. Long story on all of that but ALL good on Alts!
So last week on a short trip to our College Tailgating deal, better half drove her car following and said we had a very bad Squeal coming from engine. Like a Bad Squeling Pig! At idle nothing but under rev up it seemed the worst.
Started chasing it down this week here is what I’ve found (Brand new at this so be gentle)
– Bought one of those belt tension/alignment deals with laser deal, my first thought was the pulleys on the new Alts were not lined up, well they were, perfect lined up, the laser deal is pretty cool!!
– All belts look good, pretty much new
– Measured the Alt belt with the new clicker tool, shows about 75! Looked up what it should be, manual says 150! So maybe the PROBLEM!
– Ordered another Tension Pulley but the new one was totally wrong fit! So put the old one back on and tried putting more tension on it as I tightened it down. Got belt A little tighter near 100.
So, what should the tension be on the Alt belt? 150?
Will a new tension pulley fix this? How does one find a new one that has the correct fit and tension?
Any advise will be greatly appreciated!
We are Auburn Fans so some of the Squealing is coming from inside the Coach, that we can’t fix!
