Say you are adding some coolant to the expansion tank with a funnel and a short length of garden hose, and said hose falls into the tank.  What would you do?  Asking for a friend… embarassed

The best thing I’ve seen for that difficult pour is a little spout that comes with a 2 Part Diesel fuel additive that the sell at Kragen and o’reily’s.

As as for the hose… I think you don’t have to worry too too much of the piece is big enough…. but, I’d get one of those bolt picker uppers and try to fish it out sometime soonish….

I would tell my friend not to drip anti-freeze on my paint when he fishes it out.  I assume you (oops, I mean he) knows anti-freeze is corrosive to paint.

Im not sure 3′ would get you there to see enough but something like this and also a long picker upper. I have also used in similar cases, a long, thin (but somewhat stiff) vinyl tube with a string through it. On the business end, tie a loop in string. Once you have it around object, pull the opposite end of string and lasso the end of it.

I like the string idea.  Thanks for the advice everyone.  The coolant is below the sight glass again so I think we are going to remove the sight glass and try to fish it out through there.  I hope the level being low is just air in the system after the coolant was replaced at ETLC last week.  There are no apparent leaks.

Not unusual for coolant level to drop initially after flush…getting rid of any little air pockets.
