I reached out to Prevost Parts and found that shoe lining 641086 is no longer available. They mentioned that the EX4592AD is the OEM part. However, my local supplier said it’s on a five-month backorder.

There are several variations of “4592,” but I haven’t been able to find any information on how to decode them. Here are some examples: MC4592AD, MQ4592AD, MC4592D, MQ4592ADX, ADXX.

Do you have any updated information on this?

      Thanks!

When my 87 started showing cracks in the lining visible by looking at them from under the bus I decided to replace the shoes. At the time no shoes were available from Prevost or anywhere else I could find. I did manage to get the linings based on a trade description such as 14 X 10 plus some other information. I cleaned up the shoes, mounted the linings and used the bus for another 100,000 miles before selling it. The work was time consuming with a lot of brass flat head screws and nuts, but I never experienced any cracking or issues again.

Prevost buses use a very odd size shoe and lining.

Had to cut off anchor strap as no amount of air hammer etc could get it off.  Findit parts were able to get Federal abex recommended MC4592ad-s44 linings.

called tech support line to have engineer find that part number. Not sure what the s44 stands for. Findit had to make several calls back to federal to drop ship. Mohawk and findit had straps, cones, brass screws, oil seals, brake chamber.

as the flat head screws were corroded so I could not remove with socket and screwdriver, I chiseled the  material off, leaving just screws. Then took vice grips to now exposed top of screw and easily removed the nuts.

The spring on the shoes is depicted in various manuals facing opposite directions- some show curve outward, some inward. I believe the curve is to clear s-cam but looks odd as the curve may appear to go around axle housing.

Dirtiest job I have ever encountered.
