Had one of our members yesterday with a fire alarm going off while driving and had no idea what the alarm was all about. There was no fire and all is well, but he did say it WILL get your attention. I’ve never had it happen, but other have. He’s driving a 2000 Marathon H.

I posted this just a reminder that we do have an alarm for the engine compartment and I think this is what mine looks like:

I’ll add to what Tom is saying………some engine compartment fire sensors are susceptible to moisture so if you are washing your engine area or maybe even driving in a deluge that can set the alarm off on some coaches.

So tell me guys, I have noticed the detector myself but never touched the thing…….is it a photocell or a sensor-responder.  By that I mean does it detect only a BLAZE (photocell) or does it detect temperature?  Seems to me that the later would be preferred.  Finally, and I probably can already answer this with a NO, is this a part of any service check, to verify correct and proper operation?

I thought it looks like a snap disc.
