My A/C head unit on my 1999 H3-45 shell isn’t powering on. It’s unmodified, with factory bus air from Prevost, and still has the original setup. The A/C was working when I got the shell, but now it’s dead, which is an issue since I’m getting it ready to sell. I still need to check behind the dash to confirm power to the head unit. In the rear, drivers side fuse, electrical, and relay bay, there’s a small device about 4″ x 4″ with an LED that indicates errors. It’s blinking once every 10 seconds, and the legend says “Bad contact on Channel #1 or defect.” The box doesn’t specify what it controls. Does anyone know what this unit is for? Whatever it is, it indicates a “Bad contact on Channel #1 or defect.”

Hi Jeff, Thats your engine fire alarm control box. It connects the two sensors from your engine compartment. Alek

      Jeff,

How many coaches do you own?

AJ, Im feeling a bit foolish. I own three coaches, and I’m hoping the H3 double slide shell sells on Monday. I’m trying to tidy up all the little details. My Angola has a blown engine, so if anyone hears of a non-EGR Series 60 engine, I need to buy one. Regarding the fire alarm control box (thanks, Alek), is there a way to reset it? Could it be the reason the A/C head unit is shut down? I had my Pro Driver out, and it was causing the bus to misfire at idle. Detroit unplugged it, and the problem went away. I might try unplugging it to see if it makes a difference. Any suggestions? Thank you.
