Headlamp

I have a headlamp out on my bus, 96 Marathon on a 95 shell.

One of my headlamps is out. Do you guys know of a source that would be cheaper than Prevost for a replacement?

Also, has anyone stepped up to halogen lamps, and is it worth the $$? If so, where did you get them?

After the TN rally, I had a burnt headlight. I stopped at a TA truck stop to have a nail removed from my tag axle tire, and they had a replacement bulb in stock for $10.99. I went ahead and changed the burnt bulb along with the other side since they were the same age—it seemed wise to do so.

Tuga, are the lamp assemblies on your coach the same as a Prevost? I don’t have my bus close at hand to see if you can just change the bulb or if its a sealed beam assembly..

It’s tough to say definitively. My ’93 just had an assembly with a bulb inside. I swapped both bulbs for some “super bright” ones, and it was a straightforward job. I’m not sure if the newer models have moved to sealed beams or not.

Good question Warren, I’m not sure if they are the same. Hope that they are – it was an easy fix.

I visited the local auto parts store and got the Sylvania Silverstar Ultra bulbs to replace my originals. They’re white and bright, much better than before. They were about $38.
