Yeah, it’s been bugging me for weeks. My main and auxiliary air gauges were dropping to zero overnight. I checked all around the coach for leaks but found nothing. Finally, I pulled the panel where the gauges were mounted and discovered a leaking line about 12 inches back (1/8″ line) from one of the gauges. I replaced it with a brass inline fitting, which slowed the leak but didn’t stop it.

Then I found that both gauges were leaking where the lines connected. I removed them, took off the fittings, shortened the lines, and reinstalled everything, but still had leaks. I tried to buy new fittings at NAPA, but the counter guy claimed, “they never fail.” So, I ordered two 66PC-2-2 copper 1/8″ pipe-to-tube fittings online from “Fitting Supply.” After changing those, no more leaks!

The air tanks are holding steady now, and I’ve got one less concern! Sorry, no pictures to share.

      Mike,

Air leaks are a big concern for all Prevost owners, especially for me.

I remember hunting down several leaks in my braking system, similar to what you experienced with your dash gauges. It feels great to finally locate and fix those pesky leaks! While a completely “leak-free” Prevost suspension system might be a dream, achieving a “near leak-free” system is definitely possible with enough effort.

I also recall your post about the 12-volt versus 24-volt alternator on your Country Coach. I had already bought a 24-volt alternator in anticipation of replacing mine due to oil leaks. Thanks for sharing the alternator info—it saved me a lot of hassle!

      Have a great day!

I had a slow leak coming from my belt tensioners, and after a few checks, I couldn’t locate it. About a month ago, while working on another task in the engine bay, I heard a faint hissing sound near my ear and accidentally found the leak. It was so small that it was tough to see, even when soaped. I repaired the fitting, and now everything’s good! I totally understand the excitement of finally finding the source of the problem!

Say, does anyone know the recommended air pressure for the belt tensioner?

      Congrats, Mike!

It’s always such a satisfying feeling to improve the bus, especially when it comes to fixing air leaks.

Personally, I’m perfectly fine if the auxiliary compressor only kicks on once or twice in a 24-hour period. If I can manage to get it to run several days between starts, I’ll be ecstatic!

I jumped the gun and answered before I saw Kevin’s reply. Sorry about that.

Thanks Scott, I dialed it in last night.

Scott, always good to get that info from the source, don’t ever hesitate to correct or add to my posts. I just guess at this stuff!
