Thinking I have an inverter getting ready to go (or gone). I have two Xantrex inverters dated 2006. #2 when going off gen or shore power flashes the inverter light. That circuit comes on for 10-60 seconds then flashes off and comes on again over and over. The microwave is on that limb and the clock comes on an off continually. Doesn’t matter if I’m on battery or have the bus engine running down the road. Talked to Inverter Services and these inverters are not supported anymore and parts are pretty much non-existent.

Any ideas other than replacement? If it’s dead, suggestions on replacements. I suspect I will replace both so it’s all on the same platform and current.

Rebuilding a new bus, one system at a time – LOL!

You should have Trace/Xantrex SW4024-MC2.2 in your Marathon.  You could use the Magnum MSH-4024RE which also has two ac inputs for shore and gen like the ones you have now.  You will also need the ME-ARC remote for each one, and the AGS-N network autostart module.  They made the system modular instead of everything being in the inverter itself like the Trace/Xantrex unit.

However, before you go running to change that inverter, go check the white button breaker on the left side of the inverter and make sure it is not tripped.  That cyclical on and off is usually indicative of that breaker tripping, or even being defective.  If that is the case, the breaker can be replaced without having to change the whole inverter.

Another option is that I believe our parts department has 2 rebuilt units in stock that were repaired and checked out at Southeast Power Systems of Orlando, our closest Xantrex repair facility while the parts/boards were still available.  You can call Dan Hartley if you want to go that route at 727-420-6805.

Let me know if I can answer anything else for you, and what you find.

      Chris,

Your bus is relatively young and should not have an inverter issue. I can understand tripped breakers, poor grounds, etc. but if it turns out the inverter failed, especially one with a good reputation can you share any information about its failure or cause? Have you run your A/Cs through the inverter?

Humbled again due to operator error. I inadvertently had changed the inverter setting to search on the second inverter. Thus it was continually searching and flashing the circuit on and off when not on gen or plugged in. Reset to on and all problems resolved. Thanks for the input.

      Chris,

Good to hear. There are times I suffer a lot from self inflicted wounds……..ready, fire, aim.
