OBD Port Power

I have the wireless can pod unit that transmits DDEC data to my iPad via the Prevost diognostic port while using Ray Davis’s RV Dash program.

On my 99 CC the 12 volt power from the OBD port was only active with the key on but on my new to me 07 Marathon the terminal is hot all the time which leaves my can pod device powered on all the time.

Is there a way to move that 12volt connection to an accessory terminal so that it powers up with the ignition key on.

If the port wasn’t under the dash I could just unplug it every time.

It’s hot all the time.. The engine monitor you sold me does the same thing, always powered, but it has a sleep mode that shuts it off when it doesn’t see any rpm’s.

Buddy, Canpod has approx 2 hrs delay before disconnects from coach power…this timing can be adjusted if needed…

All of our coaches are equipped with 12V keyon, 12V key off, 24V key on and 24V key off terminals in the steer compartment.

If you want to create a power supply for a dedicated use look for four threaded posts (my XLII has them on the RH sioe of the electrical area under a clear plastic cover) and select which is appropriate for your application. I hard wired a 12V, key on terminal for a 4 position cigarette lighter receptacle that powers my GPS, dash cam and Pressure Pro..

The connections we’re talking about get there power through the data port not a 12 or 24v separate source.

Data ports are far beyiond my imited skill set. I use the Prevost data port for my reader.
