Alvie, do you have any value or measurment for phantom and identified loads? Regardless, it sounds like your batteries are still healthy.

      Hey Tom,
I would not classify this as a feel good category for Me. More of a peace of mind category that My batteries are getting the best care I can give them. Same category as a good TPMS. That is why I asked Lifeline about it. I still have not got a reply. Have You ?  I agree with Jon, And would like to hear what Lifeline says about Sulfation and desufation. With their site saying that You need to Equalize often when the batteries are discharged and recharged regularly. It does use a sailing vessel as an example. Which usually have onboard charging systems and inverters that are setup like Ours. And they are hooked up to shore power when not in use. Just like Our coachs. Hence the name ( Shore power ) Folks with fine sailing vessels tend to be very meticulous in the care and maintenance of their vessels. And the latest greatest Magnums have a equalization mode. That uses high voltage and creates heat during that mode. Ben C gave Me a very good description of what happens during equalization. And it sure does raise some concerns. At this point I will not equalize , Might never equalize ? Is there a flaw in the Magnum equalization mode ?

The devices that are on the market to desulfate batteries claim to do so without heat. All batteries sulfate as an aging process. When discharged and recharged. So that just raises a few questions. Are there any that are applicable to our coachs that can be used safely ? Are they worth the trouble ? Maybe not. Would Our inverters need to be isolated , Maybe ? For a pole to pole guy, probably not a concern. For someone that uses their battery system like the workhorse it was designed to be. Full timers and boondockers might benefit.

With so many coach owners using Lifelines. And I agree they are a great battery BTW. Maybe Lifeline needs a link or page with recommendations of how to use and care for them on their website. Might even boost Your sales Tom. With different scenarios for pole to pole people and full timers that really use them. It would be great to have a Lifeline EE chime in here also ? Is a Yacht really that different from a coach ?

Yes, I have talked to Dave at Lifeline and the answer is still the same as the last time this came up. If your charging your batteries as outlined in the Lifeline specs, you don’t need to Equalize and you don’t need any other device to desulfisize. They have not tested Power Pulse and have no opinion.

You have pretty much got the same answer on the other side, so case closed for me.

When I bought my Lifelines I got a very comprehensive “owner’s manual” with all the information needed to maintain the batteries. What other information would you seek? BTW, the same information is available on line.

Jon, I really don’t have a feel for or measurement of the phantom loads. Wish I did.

Does your electrical panel display current draw (amps) with all other loads turned off?

I don’t know all I have working in the backgrund on mine, but I do know I have things like clocks, alarms, power to inverters, and a multitude of other loads that are always on drawing some power. Even with all other loads off I show some small current draw on my display so I know that unless I kill everything by turning off the master switches at the batteries I am still drawing down my batteries.

Did not get a manual with My batteries. And I was referencing information directly from Lifeline’e website concerning equalization of AGM batteries.  Which I posted above. Very contradicting to say the very least.

      Done with that !

Jon, yes it does display amp draw but i have not tried to quantify it in any meaningful way.
