Are you saying Elgin didn’t have the shocks either?

Have you tried checking with a local truck parts supplier?

IFS—are we talking about Independent Front Suspension here?

One more question: I’ve noticed two different 45-foot models. One seems to have an extra bay between the axles, while the other appears to have more length in the rear. Any idea what’s going on with that?

      Jim,

I’d suggest giving Koni a call directly—they’re based in Louisville, if I’m remembering correctly. I don’t recall the specific person to ask for, but it’s worth a shot. Let me know how it goes. If you hit a dead end, I can have one of my racing buddies reach out to someone there, and we should be able to sort it out.

      Jim,

I recommend reaching out to Koni directly—they’re located in Louisville, if I’m not mistaken. I can’t recall the exact contact person, but it’s worth giving them a call. Let me know how it goes. If you don’t have any luck, I’ll have one of my racing connections get in touch with someone there, and we should be able to resolve it.

Just out of curiosity, Jim, why are you looking for shocks here? Is Prevost out of stock?

Recently, I’ve noticed that Prevost has been pretty competitive on certain items, and they might even be the source. Like Joe mentioned, have you tried calling Elgin?

I recently replaced the front shocks on my 40-footer with Koni’s, but they didn’t have any in stock for the rear. So, I ordered the heavy-duty ones Prevost offered, and they ended up sending me Monroes at a pretty good price. The Koni shocks look much more robust by comparison.

The improvement in how the coach handled, especially with reduced leaning, was incredible. It was probably the best upgrade I’ve made to the coach. Another thing that helped with road wandering was adjusting the slack in the steering box. Be cautious here, as it’s easy to overdo it. Mine only needed a 1/4 turn—don’t go beyond 1/2 turn. It’s an easy adjustment, but if you’re unsure, any good truck front-end shop can handle it.

Are you replacing the original Koni shocks? I think they’ve offered a lifetime warranty since the mid-1990s, so you might be able to get replacements at no cost.

Thanks for the info! I found the four shocks I need at Marathon.
