I’m having a similar issue with the SMX controllers where the set point doesn’t seem to match up with when the compressor cycles. The discrepancy between the set temperature and the actual compressor operation is affecting the system’s performance and cooling efficiency.

I have the original CruiseAir controls, and they leave a lot to be desired. I’m wondering if there are better replacement options other than the OEM parts. I’ve already replaced one of the on/off controllers and am considering replacing everything. While the A/C does a good job of cooling, the compressor control isn’t great—especially when I have to pull out a feather comforter in mid-July. Of course, being at 7,300 feet in Colorado right now, I hardly need the A/C at night.

On the SMX controller, you can adjust the compressor differential by pressing OFF, then SET, and then pressing SLOW and FAN together. The factory setting is 12, but it’s recommended to set it between 4 and 24. To adjust the temperature calibration, press OFF, then SET, and then press SET and UP together. Adjust to the desired temperature. This adjustment can be tricky since it’s like adjusting resistance in the thermocouple, and it takes time to respond. Once you’re finished, press OFF and restart the system.

      Hi Jack,

If the A/C is operating fine, what’s the advantage of checking the factory settings? Everything seems to be working well.

      Thanks,
      AL

I placed cotton between the remote sensor and the cover and it helped.

You can perform a factory memory reset by pressing OFF, SET, and FAN together, then pressing SET. This will reset the controller to its factory settings, although it won’t show you what those factory numbers are.
