      Like lonestar I just finished replacing all my engine and Webasto Coolant hoses.  One day into a trip I see coolant dripping under Webasto area.   Looks like maybe the short pipe coming out of the back end of the Webasto unit may have pinhole?  Did notice some surface rust where pipe nipple joined the Webasto body which I cleaned up during the repair.

      To continue travel I closed the Webasto in and out valves and opened Webasto bypass.  Will work on It after trip when back in port.

      Question for trainer (or anyone)  do the Webasto units tend to corrode from inside and leak.  What is recommended  repair?  Can I clean it up and tig mig or braze it, or a new housing?   There’s always  JB Weld.   I fixed a pinholed oil pan on a junker 93 Continental with it and it ran 5 years until totalled.

      Headed to Yellowstone, Durango, and Santa Fe.

      David, the Webasto heat exchangers are long-lasting, but since they’re made of steel, they can corrode over time. If your leak is external, it’s a better situation than having a leak into the exhaust system, but either way, it’s worth fixing.

      You can repair it using any method that works for you, and you’ll be good to go. If you ever need a replacement, new exchangers aren’t too expensive, and you might even find one from a salvage source.
